Functional & Integrative Nutrition

As a member of Dietitians in Integrative and Functional Medicine (DIFM) I use the “Radial” to guide my practice in determining the factors that may be contributing to feeling unwell.

The Integrative and Functional Medicine Nutrition Therapy (IFMNT) Radial highlights the factors that affect health and wellness and illustrates the many variables taken into consideration when analyzing diet and lifestyle.

It is up to the client to decide at what level each factor is taken into consideration. If you have gastrointestinal distress, “chronic” fatigue or inflammation, a look into several of the arms of the radial is needed. The strategy and plan to work through the key areas of the radial is based upon what you are comfortable with in terms of time and budget.

To get a picture of what is happening internally, stool, saliva, serum or blood samples are recommended, upon which an individualized nutrition prescription can be made. This individualized plan, will help you stay focused on what you need to do, and ignore the hype of popular supplements and quick fixes.
